Peer to Peer Mentors

mentoring matters
South Whidbey High School Peer to Peer Mentor Program:

This program focuses on an older student (mentor) who is matched with a younger student (mentee) for the purpose of guiding and supporting the mentee in many areas of their academic, social, and emotional development. This allows for effective role modeling and positions the mentor as a wiser and older individual, as with adult-youth mentoring. The program is a “peer” program because it focuses exclusively on youth-youth relationships. As the program progresses the mentors will receive training in several different areas, one of which will be training in peer-peer mediation using the Restorative Justice model as our foundation.  The program is still in the very very early stages of development.
